Dissolution of the Eastern Regional Mental Health Board
On February 28, 2018, after forty-three years of serving Region III, the Eastern Regional Mental Health Board's (ERMHB) contract with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) came to an end. Mental health services and substance use prevention are being integrated and overseen by one entity in each region and will be known as Regional Behavioral Health Action Organizations (RBHAO).
The RBHAO in Region III is being led by the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC), which has absorbed ERMHB and its functions, and will be responsible for the deliverables required by DMHAS regarding mental health, suicide and substance use prevention, and problem gambling. The transition from ERMHB to RBHAO has been a smooth one, and we are excited about the merging of the mental health and addiction service systems and the positive impact this will have on our communities.
We have closed our physical location at Uncas on Thames, and have moved to the SERAC location at 228 W. Town Street in Norwich. ERMHB can be reached at dwalker.ermbh@gmail.com or serac.office@gmail.com or at the SERAC number, 860-848-2800 for any questions. We would like to thank you for your support of Eastern Regional Mental Health Board over the last four decades. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve you and to serve alongside you.
