Early on Tuesday June 30, 2015, by a very close margin. and largely along party lines, the CT State Legislature passed SB 1502 – An Act Implementing Provisions Of The State Budget For The Biennium Ending June 30, 2017 Concerning General Government, Education And Health And Human Services. The bill, which implements the state budget for Fiscal Years 2016 – 2017, passed the House of Representatives by a 78 to 65 vote and the Senate by a 19 to 17 vote.
Mental Health and Addiction services (including Regional Mental Health Boards) were spared further cuts due to the unrelenting advocacy of all of our supporters--you--who for months have walked the halls of the Capitol, called and emailed their legislators to express support for the Regional Mental Health Boards and mental health services. Your voices were heard! The budget agreement crafted by legislators and approved on June 29th sends a strong message that services are a vital and important part of our communities.
